Things You Would Not Say

I HATE YOU.

That was easy.

Of course, had you and I been sitting across a table from one another I probably would not have even planned to say that.

But now that I have this thing called a computer, words can flow like M&Ms from a bag or…

Saved Through Work

Happy Monday!

Yes, it is Monday.  Before we collectively groan, let's consider the following from the Desert Fathers:

There was in the Cells an old man called Apollo. If someone came to find him about doing a piece of work, he would set out joyfully, saying, 'I am going to work with Christ today, for the salvation of my soul, for that is the reward he gives.'

Work is a blessing, a point we sometimes forget.

Why "Coptic Ladder?"

Why "Coptic Ladder?"

The term "Ladder" is intended to evoke The Ladder of Divine Ascent, the famous work of fourth-century spiritual writer John Climacus, who lived in the Sinai Desert in Egypt.

The name, therefore, reflects that our ascent up the "Ladder of Success," should be accompanied by a spiritual ascent and acquisition of virtues.

It is our hope that this site will be a professional and spiritual blessing to you and your colleagues.

This One Leadership Quality Will Make or Break You

One of the most often overlooked aspects of leadership is the need for pursuit. Great leaders are never satisfied with traditional practice, static thinking, conventional wisdom, or common performance. In fact, the best leaders are simply uncomfortable with anything that embraces the status quo. READ MORESee More

Science and Faith in Dialogue: Monopolizing Knowledge, Part 1

We think the following article will interest educated people generally, and those Christians who work in science or engineering, in particular. “Science is the most remarkable and powerful cultural artifact humankind has ever created. What is more, most people in our society regard science as providing us with knowledge about the natural world that has an unsurpassed claim to reality and truth. That is one reason why I am proud to be a physicist, a part of the scientific enterprise. But…See More

Engineering Is Glorious!

I just came across this fascinating article by a Christian engineer, Jace Yarbrough, about “why we don’t have more engineers.” The shortage of good engineers has been the subject of intense effort for decades, yet the supply has stubbornly refused to increase. In addition to two factors that are already widely appreciated—engineering is intrinsically difficult so few can do it, and it is relatively impervious…See More
